Yasin Korkmaz
My research focuses on understanding the impact of opportunistic pathogens on the health of Horse Chestnut trees. To achieve this, I employ various methods, including inventory surveys, laboratory and greenhouse experiments, and vector tests. Inventory surveys are an essential part of my work, as they allow me to assess the health of Horse Chestnut trees in different locations and monitor the spread of diseases caused by opportunistic pathogens. In the laboratory and greenhouse, I study the biology and behavior of opportunistic pathogens affecting Horse Chestnuts. These experiments allow me to investigate the interactions between pathogens and their host trees. Additionally, I conduct vector tests with leaf miners to better understand the transmission mechanisms of invasive pathogens. By exposing healthy Horse Chestnut leaves to living leaf miners and observing their behavior, I can determine whether they can transmit the disease to other trees. |
